Measure from the ground to the van floor, then identify the usable run beside or behind the vehicle. Set those figures against the manufacturer's guidance for the fully loaded chair. An approach that is too short can increase pushing effort; an extended section can occupy a pavement, road or neighbouring bay. Ask whether the chair is pushed, driven or dismantled, and where it is stopped. Do not approve an angle based on an empty ramp.
Find out exactly where the ramp bears: threshold, bumper, floor edge, dedicated bracket or another approved point. Fit the supplied lip, strap, pin, mat or support as instructed. Watch the empty ramp for creep and make sure a door cannot press on it. The ground under the feet must be firm enough for the stated method. A low roof or narrow bay may prevent a rear door from opening fully. Identify another bay for poor weather or a busy car park.
